Practice AreasThe immigration attorneys at Hill, Piibe & Villegas engage in virtually all areas of immigration law practice. Specific information is available in select areas listed below. Please contact us to learn if we handle a particular area you are concerned with. Green Cards & Citizenship – Our U.S. visa attorneys handle all types of applications for permanent residency (family, employment, etc.) and naturalization/citizenship. We do not simply fill out forms; we review your particular circumstances and present detailed, comprehensive packages that easily guide an adjudicator through your qualifications and issues, greatly speeding up the process. Immigration Court/Deportation/Removal - Every day our firm is involved in an average of six litigation cases before an Immigration Judge, where we question the government's interpretation of harsh new immigration laws, and whether these laws violate our clients' rights. Criminal/Immigration Issues – This complex area of law is handled every day in our firm. There are special rules in immigration law for those with a criminal record, and we stay current on the forefront of this area. We can also handle your post-conviction relief (“expungements,” etc.) in California criminal court, ensuring that such relief complies with the narrow restrictions of immigration law. Waivers – Our firm is highly successful in obtaining waivers for clients, and our staff has great experience in building these cases to a powerful showing. ICE Detention & Bonds - We commonly obtain last-minute stays of deportation/removal for clients detained by ICE, and assist them with obtaining bond orders for release from custody. Appeals & Motions to Reopen – Our litigation department is strongly skilled in the complexities of motions to reopen, both before USCIS and the immigration courts, and has a long track record of successes in appeals before the federal Courts of Appeal, the Board of Immigration Appeals, and the USCIS/Administrative Appeals Office. Asylum – The firm is intimately familiar with asylum law, as partner Susan Hill has supervised two law school clinics which assist people in seeking asylum relief. We have assisted asylum seekers from all parts of the world, and have obtained many successes. Work Permits – Also known as “work authorization” or “EADs,” a work permit usually may only be granted in conjunction with a pending application for some other type of relief or benefit, such as asylum, adjustment of status, NACARA, etc. NACARA – An application for this benefit should not be treated lightly, and Hill, Piibe & Villegas has assembled numerous successful packages for their clients. We handle many other areas of immigration law as well. Contact us if you would like further information on your immigration matter. The immigration and deportation attorneys at Hill, Piibe & Villegas serve clients of all nationalities living in the Los Angeles/West Covina/San Bernardino, California area, including Riverside and Bakersfield and all of San Bernardino County, Orange County, San Diego County, Ventura County, and Santa Barbara County.
